As an SME, we are committed to maximising our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices and see them as a crucial strategy for long-term sustainability. Whilst more small and medium enterprises might believe that ESG principles are only for large corporations, we believe that integrating these practices can bring value to businesses of all sizes. Here’s how we at RST Engineering are incorporating these principles into our operations.

Environmental: We’re committed to minimizing our environmental impact. Whether it’s using energy-efficient machinery or implementing eco-friendly waste disposal practices.

Evaporative Cooling Systems: We have installed evaporative cooling units that consume approximately 80% less power than traditional air conditioning systems. These coolers are more environmentally friendly as they use water. Additionally, each evaporative cooler can lower the internal temperature of up to 360 m² by as much as 10°C*, helping us manage energy use and reduce our carbon footprint.

Eco-Conscious Packaging: When packing and shipping jobs, we use recyclable bags. This initiative not only reduces waste but also makes it easier for our customers to engage in environmentally friendly practices.

Electric Fleet: As part of our commitment to sustainable transportation, we have electric cars in our company fleet. These vehicles help lower emissions and reduce fuel costs, further supporting our goal of minimizing our environmental impact.

Waste Management: We ensure that waste, such as tramp oil, coolant, and resin, is collected by Red Industries for proper disposal. This collaboration ensures that our waste is handled responsibly and in compliance with environmental standards.

Social: We believe in running a business that helps not just our company but also the communities we’re a part of. Our social responsibility efforts focus on being inclusive and supporting local talent

Supporting Disability Cricket: We are proud sponsors of a disability cricket club that provides inclusive and accessible opportunities for young people with additional needs to play cricket in a safe and enjoyable environment.

Sponsorships and Local Engagement: A few months ago, we supported Connor Taylor for a boxing match, raising money for the Kid's Cancer Charity. We also sponsored a Lithuanian cultural event in Milton Keynes. These sponsorships help foster a sense of community.

Cyber Awareness Training: In our commitment to security, all employees who use computers have completed a cyber awareness training course. This ensures that we’re protecting sensitive information and safeguarding our operations.

Annual Audits: To maintain our accreditations, we have a third party conduct regular annual audits. These audits help us ensure that we comply with industry standards and regulations, and they provide us with an opportunity for improvement.
