The client approached us to solve machining difficulties on a component for aerospace satellite antennae. It involved a small bore of only 6mm diameter with 16 spark eroded details with a tolerance of 0.02mm.

The original design would have required multiple electrodes thus the chance of mismatch and errors. With a simple design change of adding a radius, which didn’t impact on the functionality of the component, it was possible to manufacture using just one electrode, resulting in a far superior end product.
